“Well-known China Software Town” assessment team arrived at Beijing Computing Center for survey

In order to promote information construction in China and software industry development, MITT has been advocating the work of “setting up well-known China Software Town”, policy and measures presenting to cultivate well-known software parks and software enterprises, gather well-known software talents and construct service platform for software industry, etc. After Nanjing, Jinan and Chengdu have been successively authorized as “Well-known China Software Town”, both Beijing and Shanghai have been actively participating in it.

Arranged by MITT and Beijing Economic and Information Commission, some typical software parks and enterprises have gone through the process of assessment on spot, including Beijing Computing Center dealing with “cloud computing service for industry”. On January, 9th, 2013, led by Mr. Wang Shaopeng, the Director of Software Application Section of Software Service Department from MITT, the assessment team of 9 members arrived at Beijing Computing Center for survey. Mr. Jiang Guangzhi, Director of Software and Information Service Industry and assistant chief engineer of Beijing Economic and Information Commission accompanied and Mr. Xie Wei, Dean of Beijing Computing Center, took charge of the reception activity for the assessment team.

The group first visited the display hall of “cloud computing service for industry” of Beijing Computing Center and listened to reports by a few technical experts. After that, they visited experimental room for 3-D print and 3-D scanning equipments located on the second floor with great interest.

Vice president Xie Wei introduced that in traditional mode, the enterprise needs to invest largely at one time to purchase assistant software to computers with hundreds of thousand yuan in RMB, and even millions of capital, except for high performance server (HPS) needed to operate software tools with ten thousand yuan in RMB. Furthermore, the maintenance cost for the whole system is also high with manpower and management calculated. Therefore, “digitized manufacturing technology” can be afforded by those large-sized or ultra-large sized enterprises, and small-and-medium sized enterprises consisting of over 70% of industrial capacity in China are confronted with barriers in application of “digitized manufacturing technology”. It is “cloud computing service for industry” that breaks the barrier with brand new type of business model.

“Cloud computing service for industry” has deployed software and hardware equipments needed for industrial design for enterprises on cloud, which are available for rent. Only relatively low rent is needed to apply lots of advanced software to obtain rich information. It is said that it is possible to realize digital manufacturing with “cloud computing service for industry”, which is the practical project to advance deep integration of industrialization and digitalization.

The assessment team praised “cloud computing service for industry” highly and wished that Beijing Computing Center could continuously improve the scale and service of “cloud computing service for industry” and contribute to the development of national social and economical transformation and the construction of “Well-known China Software Town” in Beijing City.
